the trump organization had to fork over the nearly half a million dollar wound in order to satisfy the judgement. the judge ruled that the former presidents and his company illegally overvalued his real estate assets get better loan rates. trump is now though asking a new york state appeals court to pause the judgement at least for now or cv will accept a lower bond off -- not 150 million but 100 million. the former president posted this on social -- through social, saying... [ text on screen ] if trump does not come up with a money attorney general letitia james who brought the case could freeze his bank accounts and also go after some of his real estate properties. her office with this... but you know some lawyers we talked to say that the attorney general, well she simply could wait for trump's appeal process to play out. >> i think the more appropriate way for this to happen and that we require quite quickly that state attorney general's office act with some semblance of reasonableness and that is to make a deal where they allowed trump to use assets to secure the bond they're supposed to cash. >> reporter: you know,, neil they say cash is king your macros in this case it is. the insurance companies only accept crash -- cash will only accept cash collateral in mr trump's case and fairly recently doesn't have that and can get the bond is largely the approach 30 insurance companies to back that bond but all 30 said no. >> neil: thank you for that, eric sean. let's go to charlie as perino, who knows a lot about about the -- what can you tell us? >> couple of things from the trump land.

the continuing to talk to banks and insurance companies to try to get that bond, to get it at a reasonable amount of money that he could put u up. as of yet, none of his billionaire friends are pulling up money from what i understand. them and asking them, there's a lot of them. bernie marcus today, the former home depot -- home depot founder wrote an op-ed saying the country needs to rally around trump. out of now i don't think bernie's -- he's worth 6 billion and i don't think he's given any. >> martha: >> neil: what's behind the reluctance? >> is as of now, so let's s see. >> neil: are there for their own seat anytime soon the money if he succeeds on appeal? >> yeah. i mean there is one thing. i don't want to -- i want to speak for bernie marcus, that's for sure. but just generally, donald doesn't have a great record of paying back banks over the years and donald trump -- so, you know, you could sort of surmised from that what you will. but if you think about it he

has friends or did like steve schwartz from over black rock, he has palmed eric the hedge fund billionaire, i mentioned bernie, how -- holly lowe ohrenberger, you go down the list. you have to ask yourself whether or not teresa brooks now, you know, lending him some money and maybe there will -- >> neil: or maybe they're afraid of retribution from the attorney general's office -- >> there is a good point. although, you know, she wrote to the newark ag's office which has committed power because she has something known as the marriage act which can really go after a lot of businesses and the bar for intent is very low. so that is one thing but some of these folks don't have really a lot of business in new york. i mean how very low and berg does a masher or the other ones -- you know, bernie is essentially retired. so, you know, there is that issue. there's another issue here though and this could be really interesting. you know, trump's properties,

if you has to turn them over to her because he does not have the cash for a bond, are encumbered by a lot of weird stuff. partnerships, limited partnerships, you know, there is a thought here in trump land, let's give her the properties and let this genius figure it out, about unwinding these things and figuring out which part of these buildings is trump's and which part is a limited partnership that isn't trump and, you know, let's see if she can figure that out because you can't encumber the whole assets if there is partners. >> neil: but even if you could, doesn't it boomerang our new, you know, as you know corporate real estate in general and the city is in real hot water and rbc a fire sale, even a significant one of significant properties in his are among the most significant in the city, that that could do an enormous damage and take a bad situation real estate wires and make it even worse. if i'm new york mayor adams and panicking over that. >> is something about on your show on foxbusiness today.

i believe that mayor adams, "i don't think has an adversarial relationship with the newark ag letitia james, is going to tell her, you know, strike a deal. because of your literally dumping this much real estate in a market that is horrendous right now from what i understand, you know, commercial real estate is not doing that -- is not doing well and it's probably not going to do well for a long time. you are just really going to depress prices even more, is going to hurt his budget. but, you know, she might not care. let's be real clear here, letitia james ran on the notion of finding something to nail on donald trump. it is really -- i mean, for all intents and purposes in my view, this is something that each -- she should be discipline for. just think about it "like me and i'll find the crime on this guy, find something on this guy." and, you know, win she came up with was something p prepicky, you know, donald

seconds, the law in new york has never in it's history been used against someone in this way. there were no victims, he paid back the loans and yet for blatant, political, partisan reasons, this man is about to crush financially. you have to like trump to just look at like -- of that and say this is unfair and unconcerned just as an american. if it happens to him, how it cannot happen -- company not having to be? >> neil: help me with the legal side of this. if he wins with -- on appeal and could have just thrown out that he's going to want to get his money back that he put up. it was based on the sale potentially of distressed properties at distressed prices. so, you know, just to get that back it might be coming back to him at a lot less than the money he put in. there is that real risk and i missed wondering to what end? >> so a real risk and his lawyers i think i'm making a very reasonable point when they say if you has to sell these buildings and he went on appeal and how does he get those buildings back? i don't think that you can. >> neil: and why so high?

in other words sometimes they have these types of restrictions if you're a flight risk or -- and it's apples and oranges but he certainly not that. is running for the highest office in the land. so i just wonder why the 100% of the ammonia you're being snapped at camping in the bond upfront. >> because the attorney general of new york wants to crush him. and i don't think that is rather, i don't think that is, you know, right wing red meat i think it's reality when we look at the facts here. because of your client it's not like the guy is going to feel -- leave the country. everyone knows who donald trump is, he's running for president. so there is no risk of him, you know, jumping ship and take his money with him and everyone knows where to find him. and so i think the court could work out a deal with him to put up some of the money or may be take his real estate as, you know, for the bond and things would be fair. and the fact that she is so determined to get this from him is a real abuse of the law. >> neil: you are an lawyer, and of a business nerd end i

mean, this has business and -- indications for the big apple. commercial real estate is in a world of hurt. if your mayor adams even -- two prominent democrats, you're nervous about the spillover effects of selling distressed properties under the stress market at distressed prices could add to the stress not only for the study financially but but the state financially. >> totally and it's only -- i'm a native new yorker and i'm thinking if i'm in business and amaryllis the developer white in the world what i want to do business in -- in new york at this point if the attorney general in new york state is willing to be is the law in this way? and i was talking to someone over the weekend not ndc garner in politics, a woman who owns an elder care agencies you me she liked trump and i said to her "okay and i said what you think about the case is about him just because that's what i'm interested in and she said immediately she said "they're not doing it to him, i doing it to us." and, you know, it got me thinking i think there are a lot of people out there who

for middle-class families and first-time homebuyers but congress is not likely to take up this legislation or any big legislative initiative in an election year. so the white house is getting republicans in their messaging on this as well. listen. >> the president's plan will build on efforts we have already taken to lower lowing -- lower housing costs by providing a $10,000, critics -- tax credit for first-time homebuyers, cracking down on corporate actions that ripoff renters, emmerik -- building or renovating more than 2 million homes. republicans in congress should pass the president's plan to lower housing costs rather than try to cut taxes for the healthy and large corporations. >> biden has long defended himself against criticism that his administration's spending flew -- you'll inflation. biden country that inflation is a -- with a war raging in europe but also he's also -- this is part of an effort to

come up, the $454 million. florida has been a very rewarding state for him. he wanted not only last time in the general election by the time before that. and l florida over the years s become more and more of a red state, somewhat either -- even like to think a ruby red state. you will see again if he says anything coming out of there as he is on the verge of cementing the republican nomination moving on,'s focus on this he hasn't been all on joe biden and joe biden's focuses all been on donald trump. so if he comes out of there after voting and says anything will take you there. the hill editor-in-chief -- but the former presidents in the back of the matter is florida is friendly territory, has been friendly for him in the general election as well mark i suspect poles continue to show him doing just as well this go around maybe even better as he, you know, brings more hispanic latinos and other groups that traditionally have been searching for republicans by researching now.

what is your take on the sunshine state? >> i agree with you. as basically become a red state and democrats keep trying to take it back, whether that's house are specifically senate seats about winning state what is very demek -- difficult for the mcgrath know in florida. and this is an interesting spot for the former presidents. remember in 2016 and 2020 countdown in the polls most of the time, closed the distance couple of the big upset in 2016. know he's winning and when you talk about -- talking to jacqui and i don't know what polls the current president is looking at but he is -- there are seven battlegrounds and if you look at the averages from the surgeon desk, he's losing all of them. it's very close but he 0-7. >> neil: i want to ask you as well i don't know about these more recent poles which he is willing but i'm sure that they're out there, we'll see if we can produce them. but let me ask you a little bit, bob, about where the priest is in the president's advantage, in the presence

presidents. uas $54 million last month, something like that. and that's what donald trump is set to pay out in legal bills last year. so here's a distinct advantage, i believe 150 plus million dollars, cash on hand. you can do a lot of damage, out of -- a lot of campaign ads on that. i don't know how they will marshal that money but more is coming in. there is a distinct advantage for him. >> no doubt about it. it is a huge advantage for the presidents and the president does have some advantages. obviously abortion helped in the midterm, democrats where the red wave didn't really materialize. ivf is obviously related to that. so biden does have some advantages but at the same time, you know, sometimes he gets a little defensive about whether the economy order polls, embrace being an underdog is think about it will of -- what better way to go. but also acknowledge where is the -- and despite widespread praise and i thought it was a pretty good speech the state of the union he didn't get a bump from that so there is a concern for the white house.

turned to figure out the sources for the bond is something that i'm also going to have to lay to the presidents and his business advisors. >> neil: you know, you made a brief reference to some of the outcry he's received on his comments about jewish voters where maggie had said that a jewish person who votes for democrats hits their religion and everything about israel, that created a firestorm reaction, many prominent jews themselves who said that that's a line too four. what did you think? >> i think online got cross last week when chuck schumer went to the senate floor and essentially called for an election. know he can finance it and say it was just after the conflict over -- it was inappropriate in any context. they have a war cabinet going on in israel right now. even the archrivals that are part of that were cabinets are not having those sorts of partisan discussions. i think he was a mistake for schumer to go to that level and i do believe that it will influence a lot of votes here in the united states that are
